Filip Minev Thanks for the update! But the dependency from custom domains raises new questions. Let's say we are Apple and we want to send emails from support@apple.com. Now I'd have to add apple.com as a custom domain. But this leads to this error: "This domain is already pointing to a different IP address. If your website is hosted on this domain, you want to host your Tally forms from a subdomain, for example: forms.company.com, ask.company.com, etc." So I could add tally.apple.com, but then I'd only be able to send emails from support@tally.apple.com – which, let's be honest, is not thaaaat nice. So, is there a striking reason why there's this dependency?
Severin Klaus You can add apple.com as a custom domain (click "Continue anyway" in response to that warning). Then, you would skip adding the "Host" DNS records and just add the "Email" DNS records. This will give the result you were after. Thank you for bringing this up, we need to document it. 📝 I think it's quite nice if the forms are hosted on forms.company.com and emails are sent from notifications@forms.company.com, but I understand that's a matter of preference.
Filip Minev I was pleasantly surprised by the announcement. Was really waiting for this feature. It is already a great start, but for customer emails it would be great to be able to define the part before the @. Like hello@example.com instead of notifications@example.com
Filip Minev thank you for the update and work on achieving this. Great to have this now. Definite step in the right direction. That said Samuel Schnider is on point with the need to be able to adjust the 'notifications'@... too. In addition there is also the issue that the email content is still limited with only basic text formatting and add a link as options. There needs to be the ability to format using <HTML>. All of these items are inter-connected inc. the custom domain and only with all available, do we then have the ability for properly on brand, custom designed emails.
Hi Samuel Schnider, IM thank you for the feedback! We are considering adding the ability to change the sender's email. 👍 With respect to HTML emails, there is another feature request that you could upvote here: https://tally.so/feedback/p/html-emails
Filip Minev Thanks for the clarification. I spent quite some time figuring out that this is the way to do it ;-) Unfortunately, Tally support wasn’t very helpful in guiding me there. I think it would really help if you provided a clear example using a setup like "forms.domain.com" for forms (which is likely the case for most of your customers as they already have a website), and "domain.com" for email only. Maybe you might also consider asking users upfront what they want to use the custom domain for: forms only / email only / both? Anguel
Anguel Stankov sorry for my late reply. I see that you managed to set it up together with our support team's help. ✌️ I agree that we can improve the documentation around this. We will look into it!
Frederik Simoen Dear Tally team, I have recently switched from another form provider to you mainly because email notification from custom domain was only possible with a LOGIN-BASED SMTP Server connection. I would like to let you know that corporates with Microsoft subscription will soon disable LOGIN-BASED SMTP servers, you should please look for other modern methodologies for SMTP connections (e.g. with a secret key). Just wanted to kindly let you know as I have seen that this feature is in progress. All the best from Frankfurt. Can
Can Yildiz: thanks for sharing that information! PS - the first version of this feature is now live, but not publicly announced yet, feel free to test it out ;-) https://tally.so/help/custom-domains#1988a570dd6a80a1bfa7efc…
Frederik Simoen waiting
Frederik Simoen 🙌
Would be great to have this feature. Really need it for a project asap!

We would need this feature for a customer and would be very happy if it were implemented quickly.
When will this feature be out?
Vidit Chaudhary: thanks for expressing your support for this request! While I can't make any promises about if or when it might be implemented, rest assured that you'll see updates here if anything changes. Thanks again for your contribution!
Frederik Simoen Appreciate your response and would have loved to hear that this is in pipleline but doesn't look like it.
Vidit Chaudhary: I'm sorry, there is no specific timeline for this feature at this moment. At the same time, I can't exclude the possibility that it will be implemented in 2025 given the substantial community support.
Must have for "verify email" feature on new, more expensive "business plan"
Disappointed that this hasn't been done yet, it's the only thing holding us back from paying for Pro
Im waiting for this!! and not depending in zapier!!
Agreed! They need this feature asap
Well, this new email tech has API support and may be affordable for some and great to integrate/indie-partner with: https://uninbox.com/#features
Has anybody found a solution to this they can share? We can't use respondent emails if its coming from tally.so.
Discovered this issue in testing. We're going to have to code a solution using a webhook to send an email from our domain rather then using Tally's auto emails.
Yes please! I really need this to be able to just use Tally and not Zapier.
This will be incredible useful to avoid using 3rd party APIs for emailing
Is there a way around this with zapier or something?
Agree - if a client fills out a form on www.YourSite.com - then they should also receive an email from Name@YourSite.com
100% agree - supporting custom domains, and the ability to send emails as a result of form completion suggests that those emails will come from the custom domain. Nobody who completes a form at a custom domain is expecting an email from Tally. Very surprised to see that that is not the case, and will now need to turn the auto emails off and send those from an external service -
Tally needs this definitely. Combined with proper SPF & DKIM setup etc. so e-mails don't go straight to spam. Hoping it will be on the schedule soon.
This would be great!!
up
Hi team, my respondent notification was sent to the junk mail box because it was sent from a tally.so domain - would be great to avoid that by allowing custom outgoing email domains.
That would be a game changer 👌🏽
Yep, 100% need this. Must admit, saw custom domains and remove all branding and was a bit disappointed — client not too happy.
Hi IM, by using Tally Pro we remove all brandmarks, I believe you are looking for a way to send custom emails from your own domain. We edited the title of your request to other people can upvote this feature as well.
Good news, everyone! 📫 Now you can send email notifications from a custom domain. When someone submits your form, they'll receive emails from: ❌ notifications@tally.so ✅ notifications@yourcompany.com Available on Tally Pro.
