Hi Chun! Could you reach support and add a detailed description of your issue? You'll find us here: Tally.so/support
Loving Tally so far and wanted to flag a gap in the API that I think others building on top of it will run into. I was building a custom front-end with Tally as the backend, and discovered there's no POST endpoint for form submissions. The submissions section of the API only covers GET and DELETE, which makes it difficult to submit data programmatically from an external UI. This feels like a natural next step for developer use cases. Things like custom branded forms, embedded calculators, headless form workflows, etc. Would be great to see it considered. Thanks for building something so thoughtful!
Hello, Any idea by when API access will go live for everyone?
Hi Siddhant, The API is live for everyone now. You can get started by visiting here: https://developers.tally.so/api-reference/introduction
Hey Sanjeed M jerome crevecoeur you can find the documentation for our API here: https://developers.tally.so/api-reference/introduction ✌
yes API are very important ... to open possibilities.... and create forms... and surveys about my own datas
progress
Hi everyone, Happy New Year! 🎆 It's been a long wait 😅, but we are getting ready to launch our API in private beta in the coming weeks. To apply for early access, please complete this form: https://apply.tally.so/api We are accepting beta testers in groups and will notify you as soon as new slots open up. As a beta tester, you’ll have early access to the API and a private developer Slack group. Your feedback will be vital in shaping the future of our API. Talk soon! 🚀
Filip Minev This is amazing Filip! Would love to get access to it :) We are seeing if we should create our own custom form tables/apis... or if we should use tally for this
Tools JSChile Hey, you will be able to create forms via the API. I hope this helps!
Filip Minev Very interested to use it!
API Please
Filip Minev any ETA on this topic ? when do you think we'll be able to create forms via API / Make / Zapier ? Thanks :)
Louis Malingrey Hi Louis, yes, making forms via the API will be possible. We don't have an exact ETA for the moment. We are just starting to work on it and aim to have something to show before the end of the year.
Filip Minev It's just a moment away 😅
nice
Until there's an API, there's no way we're leaving Typeform. Having to force humans (my colleagues) to do a machine's job (set up fairly standard forms with some tweaks per workshop/course we run to evaluate and get participants to record their next steps, etc) is not an upgrade.
I want to create forms with calculated fields and conditionnal logic autmatically from JSON because the structure is alway the same
Hi Martin Vergara, we don't have a public API yet, but maybe you could use our webhooks for this instead: https://tally.so/help/webhooks
Hello tally Team, for when have you planned to release the API ?
I use Tally to collect feedback from my users but would love it if it was possible to let the user submit within my app via a Tally API. Submitting feedback would be a lot more frictionless if this would be possible
I'd take some simple extensions to the existing "API" to get us started: (1) a pre-submit Javascript event that would allow for (a) custom business logic for validation *and* 'validation block'(s) that could have their flag set to true/false and show an error message (for false) on the form, (b) dynamic addition of form fields or at the bare minimum, the ability to easily access hidden fields so that computed (custom logic, beyond what can be done today) values can be set on them before they are sent up to the Tally server (this is super useful / necessary if you want to use Tally's email response capability) (2) update the conditional logic block so that it can call out to a Javascript method or a web API The above would allow me to mix-in little bits of code simply enough so that Tally could remain the low-code/no-code use for the non-profit team members while implementing some basic functionality (lookups, validation) that is needed and could be reused across their forms.
Agreed
Great idea. Needed to for this : https://tally.so/feedback/p/custom-make-zapier-forms Maybe an API will be a first step to create Forms programmatically with any tool, code / no code / low code.
Someone requests a consideration for: - get submissions - submission history - search on ID
Unbelievably excited to get the notification that the API is now planned! I'm not sure what the scope of the implementation will be, but I would absolutely love to be able to manage (CRUD) Tally forms over API. My killer use case would be being able to generate a Tally form from my app and configure it (adjust settings, adding on-submit webhooks to forward the submissions back to my app) Looking forward to seeing it!
Seriously?!? No Api? Sorry but i will terminate my pro account.
This feature is absolutely necessary
This is needed in order to update multiple choice options or calendar selection options to have a dynamic registration form for events or courses for example. My number 1 missing feature.
This is not only needed, but is the best way to solve the issue of not being able to create my own components. In some cases is easier to pre-populate via API rather than creating a whole form controller from scratch (which also would be great!)
API is crucial to use tally.io - we would like to pre-populate form for users, so they can review and add missing data
I'm looking for SAAS form builder I could embed in my app. Tally looks great but lacks an API i could use. Can we get something like TypeForm Create API?
For me, an API would be useful to create a more complete integration with Notion or Airtable, especially for updating select and multi-select fields.
With the API it would be needed to be able to update multiple choices options.
In addition, I would like to add that - That for a particular form I have created in Tally - I should be able to create/initiate a unique form session via API, pass in values to fields that I already have the data for, and then Tally should be generating a dynamic and unique URL for that particular form with that particular set of data I shared pre-filled. This would allow me to then send that link out to an end-user who would have a great user-experience, and upon completion, I would also expect that I can then do an integration to a downstream service of my choosing. If also needed, I should be able to do a 'GET' response data to see the submitted data at any point.
Do everything that you can on Typeform using their APIs, please!
I'd like to request one additional endpoint to **create a response** in an existing form. This would allow me to collect responses from a HTML `<form>` embedded in an email in Tally, a use-case which I described here: https://tally.so/feedback/p/embed-a-form-in-an-email
How would I use it? We have a platform with m segments of users (each on rather low volume, but very distinct). We would like to create customized forms for every segment. We also have n languages. We are planning to use Tally for all these forms. The creation and management of forms explodes in scope easily (m x n) and Tally's UI will (and should) never cater for managing the UI of m x n forms. If I could create, update, and read forms and their content, we would not have to manually maintain Excel sheet and update the forms accordingly (and make lots of mistakes while doing so), but maintain this programmatically.
Filip Minev Marie Martens Are there any updates on this request? Is it something that will be on the roadmap in the near future?
Johnny Lin: Hi Johnny, I'm afraid I might not be bring the news you would like, but it will be for yearly in 2024. Do you mind sharing a bit more about the endpoints (or functionalities) you would like to see in the API?
Filip Minev: Hi Filip, for starters: - Getting responses via the API - Creating new forms
Filip Minev: John Alston is right, Typeform API is very complete, you should get direct inspiration from this. The most important feature is the creation of forms via API.
Emmanuel Lepage: Thank you for specifying the feature you are interested in. We will incrementally add endpoints, so the API won't be fully fledged from the get-go and that's why I'm interested to learn what are the features people need the most.
THIS is the only deal breaker in Tally right now, we want this so that we can ingest all the responses of the forms to our database programmatically and use tally's UI as the form builder in our app
I would use new API to : - Create a form - Create a form based on form-template - Update a form - Upload a media file (image, video) to add in form - Retrieve a media file from response - Retrieve all responses from a form - Create a workspace - Move a form to a workspace - Create a domain redirection for a form - Update a domain redirection for a form - Delete a domain redirection for a form
It'd be nice to go npm i tally and get my form block shoved into my Next.js website instantly. Instead of making a dedicated html page to link into
I want to fetch responses programmatically
I would use the API to fill in Lists on Multi-Choice questions as needed weekly. Simple to Update using the Form Link, Field to update and the Data for the field.
👍🏼 + other features like deleting old submissions are also useful for GDPR compliance
I'd pay 2x the $30/mo sub fee for this!!! Especially if we can programmatically add payment fields w/out doing a manual Stripe oauth check
Can i upvote more than once 🤣
100%. For GDPR compliance and data privacy, etc, we need a way to programatically delete form submissions, or have a data retention policy per submissions, eg. delete automatically within 14/30 days of submission.
We're currently planning to step away from using Tally for this reason. This is what turns it, for us, from a POC system to an MVP and support structure beyond that point
Ben Dunn Flores: What did you end up using finally, if you can let me know?
API is fundamental
I think this will grow the number of enterptise usecases pretty significantly.
Dev API is vital if I want to use tally. Use case and features: 1. Create a multi-page form by submitting to this API 2. Define settings globally 2. Output will be the link of the form
With this API I can create a custom form from my server and receive back a link. Two main use case: 1) I want to create custom and personalized text without the use of the URL parameters. 2) I want to change the questions in a dynamic way, without the use of calculated fields.
