Hi! Great question 😊 Natively, Tally doesn’t support creating a PDF and attaching it to the respondent email notification. However, you can achieve this using integrations. Reason being, we send all of the submission data over to Make upon submission (questions + answer data). Coming here to say: YES, this is very much needed. @Tally, after trialling the free version, as much as we love it and that you can do so much with the free service, the lack of conversion to pdf for both the form itself as well as submitters completed forms is the only reason we decided against upgrading to the Pro subscription. Hope to see this on the 'reviewing' list very very soon! Seems like an organic tool that is missing from this great space.

Has there been any update on this feature request? I had my first event attempting to implement the Make.com solution and all of my signers received a file with the exact signature on it (not their own). This is not feasible and I have followed the exact make.com instructions for how to fix it and the only solution is to implement constant immediate executions. This is not feasible across a multi-day multi-hour event. So I will be looking for a different solution for my waiver outside of both Tally and Make.com until this feature is available.

I was looking to provide my users with a PDF copy of the form they filled but the apps out there didn't really cover that use case without a lot of work. So I built something to solve this. I hope it's ok for me to share this here. The idea is: you take any PDF, make it fillable by adding form fields, define the fields' names and upload it to the service. Then you hook up Tally's form submission via webhook (Zapier / Make / ...) and call the API to have the PDF filled using the previously uploaded PDF template. It takes a few seconds and provides you with a download link. Also, filled PDFs from users can be read and the service will provide structured data using the field names you've assigned. Yes please! I want to be able to download the forms as a PDF.

I want to Add the Detail that it would be incredibly helpful to also have the option to put whole form including Headings and Text in the PDF / Only The Questions and Answers. The PDF is really really important as of now we are still looking to get back to our previous form tool just because of that feature. Please prioritise it! Besides that Tally is leading in this market!

In the meantime, there are a couple of workarounds you can explore. You don’t need to download the form into Google Drive itself — instead, you can connect your Tally form to tools like Make or Portant via an automation, which can then generate a PDF from form responses. It's really feeling like because you all provided a workaround, you don't have the intention of just making this feature available to your users. This feature request goes back to 2023 and it still hasn't been made a priority.

Hey Ryan! While you can’t upload a PDF directly to Tally, you can add a download link to the PDF on the Thank You page after form submission. What if the response in the Tally Form will be in Linear Format. It is rated from 1-4, is it the same format?

Back in February 2024 to request the ability to download PDF in a one-click solution or VIEW as PDF instead of the table form. I am in a beauty salon and viewing form on the ipad is a nightmare.

Direct PDF download due to signature

YES, please. in my case, I would use the signed form as an authorization to do other work. It is very important to me as a feature!

What if this feature existed outside Tally... How much would you be willing to pay per month for it? A friend and I (who's a developer) are testing something out to find a solution, but we want to be sure that it will help other people and that they're willing to pay for it.

While this is a highly voted feature, we as a community need to know the constraints of PDF conversion and creation from Tally forms. It may be very costly but also somewhat complex, technically speaking while maintaining affordability. There may be a way to either build functionality within Tally for this or allow users to connect to a service that would allow it and pass on the cost to said users. When is this feature coming? It is basically the only thing missing, and I may explore other options if it's not available.

Exactly, currently the only workaround is to save the page as PDF from the browser (save as HTML tends to be lighter but unfortunately it doesn't work, it will send you to the website and ask you to login, so not portable). Also see this feature request for CSV and Markdown: https://tally.so/feedback/p/export-data-natively-to-spreadsh… which would be formats much easier to reimport in another service (... or the same service, later!), while PDF is better for reading a formatted page. As I noted in https://www.reddit.com/r/TallyForms/comments/1b1jknr/export_…, allowing backup and porting to other services makes the user more confident that they can keep using the service without being "trapped" later and, perhaps unintuitively, helps having them keep using the service.

Wasnt this feature planned for DEC this year? Have seen it on the roadmap, but its missing now...
