Displaying the appropriate language based on the visitor's IP address would be great - Jotform do this.
forms in multi languages is super important...you have one main language and then able to create language versions (very similar to how strapi cms etc. works with locales)...you can either input the translations manually or have some sort of plugin to translate
Would it be possible for Tally to add a custom code block on the form, where we could include the google translate widget and auto-translate the form. That would be so simple to implement.
I'd like to suggest: 1 form for all languages. Choose the main language (yours) and which languages you want to auto-translate for users. All the data will be available in your own language. The tricky part is the "text" answers that should be translated into the main language. Only one dataset and one form PLEASE! PD: google translate plugin for wordpress does it this way, but do not translate external data (like tally forms). Just as inspiration for the DEV TEAM ;) ;)
Ah very cool. We already use the auto translation for the form. Will this translate the text fields in the drop-down as well? That's the only piece that hasn't been translated for us.
Hi there! 😊 If you're looking to translate your form automatically, you can use a tool like Weglot to create multilingual versions of your Tally forms. Here’s a guide to help you get started: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… That said, thanks a lot for the suggestion — we really appreciate it! If you need any additional guidance, you can reach us at support: https://tally.so/support
Hi, is this page (https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms…) in latest update? There is nowhere in weglot to input “YOUR_API_KEY”. Also, if I use Weglot, only the first page is translated. I have multiple pages in my tally form. Is there anyway I can translate mutliple pages using Weglot?
Hi María, thank you so much for taking the time to share this — we really appreciate the thoughtful suggestion! 💛 We completely understand the use case. Being able to map bilingual (or multilingual) questions to a single response field would indeed make analysis much cleaner, especially for communities and organizations serving multilingual audiences. We’ve shared your feedback with the team and will definitely keep it in mind as we continue improving Tally. In the meantime, we’d like to suggest a possible workaround that some users use today: One option is to create a landing form where respondents choose their preferred language (English or Spanish). Based on their choice, you can then redirect them to a dedicated English or Spanish form using Redirect on completion: https://tally.so/help/redirect-on-completion This does result in two separate forms (and submission tables in Tally), but you can then use one of our integrations (for example, Airtable) to sync submissions from both forms into a single table, where English and Spanish answers can live in the same columns and update in real time. We know this isn’t ideal, but it can be a practical solution for now. If you’d like help setting this up, feel free to send us a quick message via our support form: 👉 https://tally.so/support Thanks again for the great idea — and for being part of the Tally community
Hi Tally folks, I tried the "landing form" approach you suggested here for building a bilingual form. Unfortunately, after I merged the two datasets, I ended up with two languages of responses within each column of data, making it difficult to calculate frequency counts. As Michal suggested above, a bilingual form with unified response fields would be terrific! As an aside, I'm a fairly new Tally user and I am very impressed with how intuitively it is designed and how advanced the logical conditioning options are - thank you.
Thanks! We look forward to improving based on your feedback and Michal's suggestions.
I was looking "lightly" at these two (might be able to apply language translations for both the dashboard and at block level 🤔): localazy.com lokalise.com
Hi Servanne, Thanks for reaching out! 👋 If you want to change the language of your form (like the default error messages, the Thank You page, etc.), you can easily do that in Tally: 👉 Go to your form → click Settings → scroll to Language and select from 50+ supported languages. Here’s the full list and guide: https://tally.so/help/supported-languages 📝 Keep in mind: Any customizable text (like questions, button labels, etc.) should be typed manually in the language you want. The language setting only applies to system-generated text (e.g., “This question is required”, “Form closed”, etc.). RTL (right-to-left) support is available for Arabic, Hebrew, and Yoruba. If you're looking to create a multilingual form, we recommend using Weglot to integrate automatic translations: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… And if you need help setting this up, feel free to contact our Support team: https://tally.so/contact-support Hope this helps! 😊
Hi Damien, Thanks for submitting this request. Indeed, I can see why you'd want an automatic translation feature developed based on the user's browser. If using our Weglot integration guide (https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms…) isn't an option, we appreciate your patience as we get to building this request. I'll merge this, with a similar request.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful feature suggestions, Charlotte! 🙌 For multi-language forms, while it’s not built-in natively yet, you can absolutely do this using an external service like Weglot. Here's a guide on how to set that up: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… As for uploading questions via CSV, that’s not available yet, but we really appreciate you flagging it — batch creation would definitely help streamline large forms. We'll keep this in mind for future improvements. ✌
Hi @Patrick Evans, Thanks for submitting this request. 🙌🏼 Our AI features, which could help with this, are in beta currently and you can reach out to us via our support channel for an invite to the program: https://tally.so/support However, there isn't a solution for translating the forms in the front end, via a selector via AI yet - it would be that you'd need to create multiple forms for each language (but the AI will help in making this workflow faster). Another way is by using the Weglot integration; https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… I'll merge this with a similar request.
Hi Yoda Thecrook, Thanks for submitting this request! 🙌🏼 I can see how this could be helpful to you. As a workaround, if you'd like to automatically translate the form within the builder, reach out to us here; https://tally.so/support This way, we can send you a link to our beta AI features that could help. I'll be merging this with a similar request.
Hi Telion Official, Thanks for submitting this request! 🙌🏼 So, you'd want more control of your form translations. I think the best route, would be a more custom approach/setup via our API - specifically here; https://developers.tally.so/api-reference/endpoint/forms/pos… The automatic default mechanism you'd want, based on browser language, might need some custom development too. Feel free to take a look at our Develop resources as well: https://tally.so/help/developer-resources I'll merge this into a similar feature request, and you can further share any thoughts there.
Hi Lola World, Thanks for submitting this request! 🙌🏼 While we don't have native functionality to translate the form to the desired language of the customer, you can try out this integration from Weglot; https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… That being said, we'll merge this to another similar request.
airtuerk Marketing Thank you for your feedback! This is already supported through Weglot, which allows you to create multilingual forms: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms…. Please note that this integration requires a Tally Pro subscription. Let us know if you have any questions!
Hi Lars, Thanks a lot for your suggestion 🙌 We totally understand the importance of multi-language support. At the moment, you can change your form’s language in Settings → Language, which will translate default texts such as error messages, closed-form notices, or the default Thank You page. You can check the full list of supported languages here: https://tally.so/help/supported-languages . However, translations don’t apply to the content you create (like question titles or descriptions). For creating true multilingual forms, you can use this workaround: How to create multilingual Tally forms with Weglot: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… . We’ve also noted your request for native multi-language support, and we’ll keep it in mind for future improvements.
Hey Rico — thanks a ton for the suggestion! Auto-translation isn't built into Tally natively, but if you’d like to explore a workaround, we have a guide on how to make multilingual forms using Weglot: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms… 🙌 Thanks again for the feedback! ✌
This would be very helpful, especially since you'll have one form, possibly automatically switching the language, and it would be a game-changer for analytics
Please make this a reality. It would save us a lot of time.
We use Tally in house to make surveys and we have increasingly multilingual team. This is will be the most useful feature for our use case.
Hi Srdan Javorcic, thanks for this request! I’m happy to confirm that is already possible in Tally. You can read more about this feature here: https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms…
I would love to have multilingual forms. I have reservations on having the translation being done automatically -- at least I would like to be able to override it.
Hello The Tally+weglot integration is really nice. Though it doesn't work well on multipages forms. Weglot only detects the first page. Any workarounds or plan to make it work better ?
I got help from the Weglot team, it works but you need to add another dynamic element (see picture)
Hi everyone, Tally + Weglot is a dream team! I think that's the best solution to really offer a form in multiple languages currently. In case you don't want to go this route for whatever reason, I've built a small tool to quickly translate an existing Tally. On https://tally-ai-forms.vercel.app you can insert the Tally URL and you are then redirected to the new, translated form.
Richard Ahrend Hi! The link seems to be dead, something happened?
This! Stopping us from adopting Tally in our organisation, and probably signing up for a premium license. Automated translations - cool, but not 'must have'. Rather just default support for multilingual forms, instead of external tool usage (weglot)
Hi 👋 As a workaround you can use Tally + Weglot, we created a tutorial which you can find here https://tally.so/help/how-to-create-multilingual-tally-forms…
Marie Martens: Hi! This is a good point, but my team is already using DeepL, so we would like to be able to at least add manual translations, it would be awesome!
Localisation would be amazing. I think the automated translation is a nice-to-have. Just being able to specify translations for field names and their options would be great. Also displaying the appropriate language based on the visitor's IP address would be great -- Jotform do this.
Hi Sebastiano, thanks for the feedback! Native multi-language forms are on our roadmap and something we're working towards — can't give an exact date, but it's on the way and coming soon. Really appreciate you sharing this!
